Once the beta Hcg test is positive, it is repeated every 4th day till the beta Hcg LEVELS CROSS 20,000iu. The first scan is performed about 5 weeks after the embryo transfer. Surrogate lady continues to receive folic acid, hematinics, Vitamin supplements, food supplements and hormonal support.
At around 11 weeks:
A very important sonography scan is performed on surrogate at around 11 weeks to look for soft tissue markers for any fetal abnormalities that includes Nuchal fold thickness and Nasal bone thickness measurements. We always do a ‘ Double Marker Scan’ at this time by performing blood tests-PAPP-A and Free Serum beta Hcg along with the sonographic nuchal fold thickness to detect any major fetal malformation at the earliest stage. She also undergoes routine ante-natal blood tests like:
CBC,VDRL, HIV, Hepatitis B & C tests. Blood Sugar Fasting and 2 hour post-meal and Urine examination
At around 17 weeks:
A Triple Marker Screen ( for Down’s syndrome and other neurological abnormalities ) is performed which involves certain blood tests and a detailed ultrasound scan at level III centre. This is a detailed organ by organ sonographic examination of your baby.
Throughout pregnancy , surrogate lady continues to be under our periodic care and check ups.
She is provided with supplements of iron, calcium, vitamins, and given her quota of fruits and proteins on weekly basis.
Our co-ordinator frequently visits the surrogate lady’s household to confirm her state of hygiene and compliance with medicines.
After 20 weeks pregnancy she is checked by us every two weeks and undergoes repeat sonography checks at 24, 28, and 32 weeks. At around 34 weeks a detailed colour Doppler sonography and Bio-physical profile of fetus is done by sonography to ensure the health of baby.
After 34th week, she visits our clinic weekly and very close watch is kept on pregnancy. Most of the surrogate ladies start labour spontaneously and deliver vaginally, but a Caesarean Section may be planned for any Obstetric indication.
Delivery is carried out by experienced Obstetrician and neonatologist is present at the moment of baby’s birth, who takes care of your baby from the moment it is delivered.
Can the Surrogate be lodged in our surrogate house throughout her pregnancy?
Yes, if you wish so, your surrogate can be lodged in our ‘surrogate house’ close to our clinic at an extra cost of $ 400 per month.
